Where are they now?

Where are they now?  The Garden Club at Palm Coast needs your sleuthing skills.  We are searching for past recipients of our high school scholarship award.

Kasandra Baker – 2025

The Garden Club at Palm Coast is celebrating 50 years of friendship, gardening and community.  Its members have participated in various projects throughout the community including replanting and maintaining the Butterfly Garden at Linear Park, hosting the installation of the Blue Star Memorial Marker on SR100, supporting projects by the Eagle Scouts, participating in Arbor Day celebrations by planting trees throughout the city, establishing junior garden clubs at local elementary schools, sponsoring local children to attend summer camp at Hammock Gardens, Camp Wekiva and SEEK, and of course our plant sales.  These plant sales, particularly our Spring Festival held in April, help support our projects as well as fund our scholarship programs.  Over the years the club has awarded over $60,000 to Palm Coast high school seniors.  This year The Garden Club awarded scholarships to Jasper Donoso, Kasandra Baker and Collin Jones from Matanzas

Collin Jones – 2025

High, and Angelina Manjarres from Flagler-Palm Coast.  Also awarded this year were two extended scholarships (soon to become our ACE scholarship, stay tuned for news on this new opportunity) to Abigayle Amaturo and Jessica Neal of the class of 2023.

Over the past few weeks our members have come in contact with past recipients of our scholarship.  Justin, from the class of 2009, is now a principle at a new nursery in Bunnell, Green Heritage Nursery.  This little gem is a must see if you haven’t been there already.  Lilly, from the class of 2023, graduated from Daytona State with her AA and has received a full scholarship to Stetson to continue her environmental science studies.

Abigayle Amaturo – past recipient

All of this made us think “Where are they now?”  That is what we want to know.

If you or someone you know has received a scholarship from The Garden Club at Palm Coast, please send us your story, we would love to hear from you.  Send your story to info@gardenclubatpalmcoast.org, attention Kenetha Kilmurray (Scholarship Chair).

Field Trip Green Heritage Nursery

On May 14, 2025, several members from The Garden Club at Palm Coast went on a field trip to visit a new nursery called Green Heritage Nursery located at 22 Bimini Ln., Bunnell, Fl 32110.

They were having a Sip and Sample from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. where you could sample spices and sip a free glass of wine and shop their plant sale with 10% off any plant purchase!

The owner gave us a little history of Green Heritage, see below:

Thank you for coming to our Sip and Sample. So glad you all came out.  As per our newsletter, the property was purchased in July of 2024 on land that was once a nursery so you will still find trees fully grown out of their old pots. Began with overgrown weeds and mud.  With collaboration of help including myself Stephen Maxcy designed and built what is now Green Heritage Nursery.  Designing and building water features and winding pathways specific to what the plants need are regarding sun or shade.  Came up with the idea of a gift shop that exclusively features only local arts and crafts for customers to browse though. We have many events for people to come and enjoy such as a ladies’ night and planting together arrangements for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Butterfly lovers and building your own veggie garden.  Created in the span of 9 months we have created a garden center for everyone.  Everyone that visits us always has a great time including all the children playing in our sandbox., Our take-a-book leave-a-book and our sodas and ice cream. We also have very nice chickens you are welcome to pet and feed. We are dog friendly.  Everyone is welcome.

Steven Maxcy
