Our first meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Janet Roberts, newly appointed Director.
Announcements:
The Garden Club 50th Anniversary and the Fall District meeting will be held on October 24, 2025, at the Hammock Dunes Club.
The Arrangers’ Guild was asked to make floral table arrangements for the event.
Denise Garcia, President, offered her house for the arrangers to make the arrangements the day before on October 23rd.
Sharon Smith announced that she is taking over the Propagation Guild as Jane Villa-Lobos retired from the Guild. Sharon’s first meeting will be held on Monday, September 22nd at Club 51. No joining fee just come and have a good time. Sharon propagates a lot and plans to have a seed exchange soon.
Jane Howells brought in a sample of her cassia tree along with some seeds.
Our instructor for today is Penny Decker. She will be teaching Class 1 – Traditional Design – Straight Line.
Penny demonstrated a few beautiful floral arrangements using the Traditional Design technique.
She also gave a few helpful tips:
- If you use a white container, you must use some white flowers, or it will not look right.
- Bright color is a big factor in design.
- She went over a few necessary items you should have in your tool kit.
After a short break the class made their own arrangements and when they were finished, they were critiqued by the instructor and the class. A great job on all arrangements.
Our second class will be held on Tuesday, October 21st. Class 2 will be about conditioning your plant material and flowers.
Meeting was adjourned at 1:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted: Nancy Iandoli
