The Garden Club at Palm Coast

The Arranger’s Guild met on February 15, 2022 at the Flagler County Extension Office in Bunnell.

Nancy Iandoli facilitated the meeting in absence of Linda Hensler, Director, and for Andrea Rogers who had called in sick.

Penny Decker was our trainer for the day and she taught the class on how to create Japanese style arrangements called Ikebana. Handouts were passed out.

The round shallow dish used is called a Moribana which is a shallow vase using a needlepoint known as a kenzan. The characteristics of this dish are also known as suiban.

The instructor demonstrated 3 designs you can make: basic upright, slanting, and freestyle. Students were given each a dish to bring home to practice as we did not have all the materials needed.

The class was enjoyed by all.

Several Arrangers met at the Flagler County Extension on January 18 to start making the dress flower vases for the upcoming fashion show on February 5th. Kelley Callery led the training on how to make the centerpieces.

We were very busy measuring and cutting materials needed for each vase and we had a gluing station to start putting them together that this writer forgot to take pictures.

However, some of us were able to meet again at Carol Walker, President’s house, on January 27th to complete the vases. Pictures below and on Shutterfly. Thank you Carol for hosting at your home and for the wonderful breakfast and beverages you provided for all!

February’s Arrangers Guild will be on February 15th at Flagler County Extension. Penny Decker, trainer, will be doing Ikebana training. 9-inch bowls and 2 handouts will be provided to all Arrangers.
