December 2019 Yard Selection of the Month

Doris and Joel Houslander of Clearview Court North have been recognized as December 2019 Selection of the Month by The Garden Club at Palm Coast.

The Houslanders, originally from Illinois, bought their home in 2014 and were snowbirds for 2 seasons before moving to Palm Coast in 2017.  The couple enjoys gardening, boating and playing adult ice hockey in a league in Jacksonville.

Walking up the driveway on the left side is a small garden that has a Loquat tree, Oyster plants, Soap Aloe and rose Penta.  There is a Phoenix Robellini palm, yellow Hibiscus, Crotons, Gerbera daisy, pink Star Penta, and Liriope.  The front door area has several pots with Spider plant, Mamy Croton and orange Mums.

In the front of the house are Xanadu Philodendron, red Coleus, ribbed Elephant ear, Hawaiian Ti and Petra Crotons.  There is a large coquina boulder that has a blue fish and 2 blue turtles sunbathing.  On the right side is a large Palatka Holly along with some Hydrangea, variegated Agave, yellow Coreopsis, red Penta and Gazania. Going around the corner there is a multi-trunk Robellini palm with some pink Vinca and several white and yellow Mums that circle around the curbing.

This lovely curb appeal landscape was also showcased in our recent Garden Tour of 2019 and they were presented with a beautiful stepping stone made by our Garden Club volunteers!
