DESCRIPTION:The Garden Club at Palm Coast\, Inc. will celebrate Florida Arbor Day with a tree-planting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday\, January 19\, 2024 at City Hall (Lakefront at Town Center). This event will kick off a year-long celebration of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs 100th anniversary. All garden clubs in Florida will take part by planting a tree on this same date and time. \nThe Garden Club at Palm Coast\, Inc. will join the statewide celebration by planting a bald cypress tree. Officers and members of the Garden Club will be joined by City Officials at this event. In addition to the tree planting\, there will be free wax myrtle tree seedlings (a Florida native) given away to all attendees. \nGrants from the Duke Energy Foundation (tree purchase) and the National Wildlife Federation (free tree seedlings) are supporting this year’s Arbor Day festivities in honor of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs’ anniversary.

SUMMARY:Celebrate FFGC’s 100th Anniversary  97th Convention
DESCRIPTION:“Celebrating 100 Years” will be held at the SouthBank Marriott hotel in Jacksonville. A state flower show will be held in conjunction with this convention. The state flower show will be held remotely at the Garden Club of Jacksonville club house on River Street. We will have tours of the Cummer Museum next door to the garden club on River Street.  We will have the first Member’s Art Show. We will celebrate the 4 original garden clubs that started FFGC (Garden Club of Jacksonville\, Garden Club of Halifax Country\, Winter Park Garden Club and Miami Garden Club) and we will celebrate any 100-year-old member born in 1924!  \nFor those wishing to attend on Thursday (04/11)\, we are planning a day bus trip to the FFGC convention in Jacksonville on Thursday\, April 11 only. There are 55 seats available on the bus. Forty-five people need to sign up to move forward with the planning. The cost of the bus is $30 per person. The trip is open to non-members. The state flower show is free. If you are interested in the bus trip\, you must pay $30 by cash or check at the February meeting so the bus can be reserved. DESCRIPTION:The City of Palm Coast will be holding its 19th Annual Arbor Day event on May 4th from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Central Park in Town Center\, 975 Central Ave. Admission is free!  \nThe tree tent opens at 9 a.m. A Master Certified Arborist will be in the tree tent from 9 a.m.-noon\, offering free guidance on proper pruning\, placement\, planting\, and root-shaving techniques. To get a free tree\, bring a non-perishable\, non-expired human or pet food item to trade for the tree while quantities last! City of Palm Coast employees and volunteers will be available to assist with loading the trees into your vehicle.  \nThe native Monarch butterfly release will be at 11 a.m. Other fun activities are planned for all ages\, including a butterfly tent\, free arts and crafts\, and goodie bags for the kids. \nThe Garden Club at Palm Coast will have a booth across from the tree giveaway. The guest speaker is Eva Larsson from The Garden Club at Palm Coast. She will speak about “Herbs: Propagation\, Harvest and Uses”. Eva attended Clayton College of Natural Health and graduated in 2002 as a Certified Herbalist with high honors.
